A big celebration of Middlebury talent hits the Town Hall Theater stage on Friday, July 25, when MUHS grad Sam Margolis comes back to town with his Boston-based band Comanchero - with his dad, local poet Gary Margolis, on stage as part of the entertainment.

Opening the evening will be Middlebury's own Crazyhearse, whose members include MUHS alums David Kloepfer, Josh Gallagher and Corey Many.

Since 2003, Sam Margolis (MUHS Class of '97), has crafted an Americana sound that combines old traditions with new, Country with Rock, Bluegrasswith Blues, Honky Tonk with Funk, and Roots with Rockabilly. Comanchero has played hundreds of shows nationally and internationally, from Ireland to Daytona Beach to Northern Maine. The band consistently shares the stage with nationally touring artists such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, ZZ Top, Passion Pit, and The Yardbirds.

Before Comanchero hits the stage, Middlebury poet Gary Margolis will team up with his son Sam for a brief musical poetry jam.

"This is the kind of event we love to do," says THT executive director. "Terrific talent with local connections, and the addition of poet Gary Margolis gives the evening an exciting, one-of-a-kind spin."

Comanchero, Crazyhearse and Gary Margolis will perform on Friday, July 25, at 8 pm. Snacks and cash bar available. Tickets are $12, and each ticket comes with a complimentary drink. Tickets may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, Noon-5 pm), or at the door.
