Middlebury College's premiere all-male a cappella group brings its seamless harmonies to Town Hall Theater tonight, April 24.

Founded in 1952, the D-8 is Middlebury's oldest a cappella group. They regularly perform throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, and have released two award-winning albums.

"Almost the entire group performed here recently in LES MISERABLES," says THT Executive Director Douglas Anderson. "I made it known that we hadn't had an a cappella performance here since the Dartmouth Aires came through a few years ago, which people loved. It was time to get the D-8 off the hill and into the community."

The group's newest album, "Stand Up Eight", celebrates innovation and the very wide range of all things a cappella.

Opening the evening will be members of the Middlebury College Swing Dance Club. These dedicated swing dancers have been meeting regularly for years for lessons and big band dances, but recently they've put together a group of choreographed show dances. "These are bravura, high-energy dances designed to be performed for an audience," says Anderson. "It's like watching Dancing with the Stars, except that dance is a 50's-inspired swing dance. They're absolutely great."

The Dissipated 8 and the Middlebury College Swing Dance Club will perform at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Thursday, April 24 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $10/$5 students, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm) and at the door.
