Men and women, for possible replacements in the currently running touring production. For the ensemble and featured ensemble parts.

Preparation
Prepare 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre song in the style of the show, showing range. Bring sheet music for your song; a piano accompanist will be provided. Bring a photo/resume stapled together.

Breakdown

ENSEMBLE SINGERS
Seeking a broad range of males and females of all ethnicities from early 20s to 60s. Excellent singing voices in all ranges. All must understand the Latin temperament even if they don’t fit perfectly into the “look”. All shapes and sizes to play everything from Generals to peasants. A fully featured versatile ensemble that helps define this world. Movement ability needed. Understudies for the principal roles of EVA, CHE, and PERON will be assigned from the ensemble, as well as understudies for the ensemble features of MAGALDI and MISTRESS. ENSEMBLE

Featured Ensemble Parts

MAGALDI
Male, any ethnicity, to play 30 – 40. A tango singer with whom Eva has her first love affair. Charming loser – never quite made it. Has the first number in the show (“On This Night of a Thousand Stars”) and sets up the world in which Eva exists and establishes a Latin flavor to the piece which is essential. Also appears in the ensemble. Latin American in personality and feel. Needs movement ability. Strong high baritone or tenor. FEATURED ENSEMBLE

MISTRESS
Female, any ethnicity, to play 18 – early 20s. Juan Peron’s Mistress who is pushed out of Peron’s life by his future wife, Eva. The Mistress ponders the rejection in a big number, “Another Suitcase in Another Hall.” Beautiful, period, fragile, vulnerable. Also appears in the ensemble. Needs movement ability. Powerful contemporary mix voice. FEATURED ENSEMBLE

CHE/MAGALDI UNDERSTUDY
Male, 20s – 30s, any ethnicity. Strong high tenor with strong dance and partnering ability. To appear in the onstage ensemble and understudy the leading role of CHE (The show’s narrator, he provides the case for the prosecution, mocking both the deluded public and Eva herself as a woman and politician. Must be able to relate to the audience and take them with him on the dramatic journey of the piece. Must be able to offer an extraordinary range of versatility to take on the Everyman nature of the part) and the featured ensemble role of MAGALDI (See above). Part of a fully featured versatile ensemble that helps define this world—to play everything from Generals to peasants. ENSEMBLE – SEEKING IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT
