AEA actors/actors who sing, for various theatres 14-15 seasons.

Preparation
All actors will be given 3 minutes to perform: 2 song selections, a song/monologue combination, or 1 monologue. You will be contacted by a staff member to confirm an appointment and will be required to send forty photocopies of your headshot for the attending organizations.

Appointments will be accepted on a first come first serve bases until full. Equity members are still encouraged to come to the audition to sign up for stand-by list.

RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN
Director: TBD
Playwright: Gina Gionfriddo
Runs October/November. Exact dates TBA.

Seeking:

CATHERINE CROLL
Early forties. Teaches at a university in New York City. Well-respected feminist scholar. Confident and assertive, but experiences doubt when she returns home after her mother has a heart attack.

GWEN HARPER
Early forties. Mother of two, married to Don. Attended graduate school with Catherine. Generally positive but feels frustrated with her marriage. Recently sober.

DON HARPER
Early forties, Catherine’s former lover and Gwen’s husband. American Lit Professor turned disciplinary dean. Dissatisfied but also unmotivated. Flirtatious charmer and mellow underachiever.

ALICE CROLL
Seventies. Catherine’s mother. Recently had a heart attack but is generally healthy. Satisfied homemaker. Both maternal and unsentimental.

AVERY WILLARD Twenty-one. College-student and frequent babysitter. Working to film a reality show with her boyfriend. Opinionated and confident, sense of having it all figured out. Sharp, thoughtful, and witty (sometimes unintentionally).

THE BODY OF AN AMERICAN
Playwright: Dan O’Brien

Dates: Show will run January/February. Exact dates TBA.

Seeking:

Male Actor 1:
MAN IN HIS 30s: Mostly plays Dan, a playwright finishing a residency in Princeton. He is dedicated to his work and successful, but plagued by self-doubt. Married to an actress. Reaches out to Paul because he wants to write a play about him.

Male Actor 2:
MAN IN HIS 50s: Mostly plays Paul, a Canadian reporter and Pulitzer-Prize winning photojournalist. Haunted by traumatic memories of war scenes. Gruff and feels that unhappiness is central to being successful at his work. Was born with a congenitally deformed hand. Married with a young son.

Please note: The roles of Dan and Paul are shared by two actors. Both actors also play a wide range of other parts including Terry Gross, a Somalian translator, a Polish immigrant, a therapist, Inuit teenagers, a Ghanaian man, a Canadian cab driver, and Mother Theresa, among others.

HAMLET and ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD
Playwright: Shakespeare/Tom Stoppard
Director: Blanka Zizka

Dates: Hamlet will run in March/April (exact dates TBA), Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead will run in May/June (exact dates TBA).

Seeking:

A color-blind ensemble of 12-14 actors who will act in both shows.

Roles to be assigned: Claudius, King Hamlet, Gertrude, Ophelia, Polonius, Laertes, Players, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, Horatio, Alfred, Fortinbras, and Marcellus
