Breakdown

WALTER KEEGAN:
66. A successful film and stage director. Charming, menschy, virile. A big personality. But not as young as he once was.

MICHAEL ASTOR:
45, a ruggedly handsome, charismatic actor andlongtime family friend, who has become famous playing a doctor on a hit TV series. Charming and self-deprecating. A bit embarrassed by the nature of his success, especially around this family.

NELL McNALLY:
35, an intelligent, inscrutable beauty. Walter’s new, much younger, actress-girlfriend. The sort of woman every man falls for instantly. Self-posessed, but warm. Her approachability is part of her allure.

The following roles have been CAST:

ANNA PATTERSON:
[CAST: Blythe Danner] The matriarch, a great and famous actress. Regal and down-to-earth at the same time.

SUSIE KEEGAN:
[CAST: TBA] 19. A college student, the plainly lovely daughter of Walter and a recently deceased actress named Kathy. A grounded girl in a family of eccentrics.

ELLIOT COOPER:
[CAST: TBA] 44, Susie’s uncle (brother of her deceased mother). Failed actor and aspiring playwright. A bit of an Eeyore. Smart, but his intelligence doesn’t make him happier. The opposite, if anything. He hides behind it.
