Dancers for The King & I for ZACH Theatre's 2014-15 season.

Preparation
Please wear movement-appropriate clothing and bring ballet and jazz shoes. Please bring Resume and Headshot to audition.
NOTE: All actors will be considered for all roles.

Other Dates
First Rehearsal: August 18, 2014
Performance Dates: September 17 - October 19, 2014
Shows run Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:30pm, with potential forTuesday and Sunday evenings at 7:30pm.

THE ROLE OF ANNA LEONOWENS IS ALREADY CAST- PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT FOR THIS ROLE.

The King- (baritone range C-E) : Powerful character actor, secure in his power; serious, intellectual, able to command as well as show emotional struggle. Shaved head NOT required. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTOR.

Louis Leonowens – (Alto range G-B):Anna’s son; polite, respectful, sincere. Age range 8-12. British/RP accent required.
Prince Chulalongkorn (Alto range G-B):Crown Prince of Siam; strong, rigid, militaristic. Age range 10-15. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTOR.

Tuptim- (Soprano Range C- A#):Young, beautiful, high-spirited ingénue with legit musical theatre voice. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTRESS

Lun Tha- (Tenor Range C-G) :Doomed lover of Tuptim; young ingénue, legit musical theatre voice, strong presence. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTOR
Lady Thiang- (Soprano/high Mezzo C#-G):Favorite wife of the King, mother of the Crown Prince; Earthy, regal, must have legit voice and be strong actress. Age range 30’s/40’s. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTRESS
The Kralahome (non singing role): Imposing, right-hand man to and adviser of the King. Strong character actor. Age range 30’s- 60’s. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTOR .

Captain Orton (non singing role) : Seasoned English seafarer who brings Anna to Siam. Age range 40-65. Character actor, proficient with accents.

Sir Edward Ramsay (non singing role): Distinguished British statesman and old family friend of Anna. Age range 35-50. Leading man proficient with British/RP accent.

Phra Alack (cast from male Ensemble-any vocal range): Interpreter/Secretary to the King. Character actor. Age range 18-60. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTOR

Adult Ensemble (Men/Women-all ages and vocal ranges needed) : Seeking singers who move and also dancers to play wives, priests, guards and members of the Kings court. Trained ballet dancers need not have singing experience to be considered. SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN SINGERS/ACTORS/ACTRESSES.
For dancers, (ages 16-50) SEEKING ASIAN AMERICAN ACTORS/ACTRESSES AND OTHER ETHNIC ACTORS/ACTRESSES.

Children’s Ensemble (ages 7-16): Seeking young and confident ASIAN AMERICAN singers who are comfortable moving and working together as a group onstage.

We are seeking both AEA and non AEA actors.
