Breakdown

CATHY:
25-33, WASP (referred to as a Shiksa Goddess), small-town girl with big dreams of becoming an actress in New York City. Ambitious, a little kooky, insecure, has good sense of humor. In the play, she tells the story of her failed, 5-year relationship with her husband, Jamie, starting from the end of the relationship, and working toward to beginning. Must have broad emotional range, endurance, and focus to sing and act alone throughout the play.
Vocal Range: Mezzo/Belter, F3 to D#5 Good pop feel, with strong storytelling.

JAMIE:
25-35, Jewish. Young novelist rockets to success with his first book, and simultaneously falls in love with Catherine. Very ambitious, smart, self-involved, good sense of humor, he wants to fully ride his incredible wave of talent and fortune. Unfortunately, he is unable to keep it all together, and in the play, he tells the story of his failed, 5-year relationship with his wife, Catherine, starting from their first date, through their break-up. Must have broad emotional range, endurance, and focus to sing and act alone throughout the play.
Vocal Range: Strong tenor, A2 to Bb4. Good pop feel, with strong storytelling.
