Mozart spoke German, but he wrote the popular comic opera Cosi fan tutte in the fashionable Italian language. The opera comes full circle at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater when the Middlebury College German for Singers and Vocal Coaches present the classic comedy in German. The adapted version will be presented Friday, August 8th, and Saturday, August 9th at 8:30 p.m. (more...)

Obie Award-winning actor/playwright Dael Orlandersmith returns to Weston for a limited run of Stoop Stories, a one-act drama that is powerful, intelligent and completely captivating. In the play, the Harlem native embodies a half-a-dozen characters - from an 81-year old Holocaust survivor recounting a chance encounter with Billy Holiday to a 13-year old Latina who succumbs to a sexy young gang member - united over the course of time by a ubiquitous city stoop. The show runs for just 10 days from today, July 24 - August 3 at the Weston Rod and Gun Club. (more...)

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company continues its summer of quality theatre with the eagerly anticipated production of the legendary Broadway show A Chorus Line. This iconic American musical won nine Tonys, a Pulitzer Prize for drama, and ran for 15 years on Broadway. It runs on the Playhouse MainStage from July 31 to August 23. (more...)

Higher Ground & Grace Potter and The Nocturnals announced the official after parties for both nights of Grand Point North. On Saturday, Sept. 13th, FLY GOLDEN EAGLE will perform at Nectar's in downtown Burlington. Vermont Pride Theater at Chandler announces its 4th annual Summer Pride Festival of LGBT plays in Randolph, Vermont, this weekend, July 18-20 and 25-27. This season it will offer full productions of three exciting scripts, none of which has been presented before in Vermont. These will be directed and performed by an ensemble of Equity and non-Equity theater artists from across the nation, and presented in Randolph's historic Chandler Music Hall, listed on the National Historic Register. The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company's $10 million campaign - Growing the Arts at Walker Farm - can be a game changer for Southern Vermont, Campaign Chair Wayne Granquist said today. "We are creating a unique project with local, regional and national benefits," Granquist continued. "It offers a great deal for Southern Vermont. Dorset Theatre Festival is proud to present the World Premiere of Leslie Ayvazian's new comedy Out of the City beginning July 10th. This is the third world premiere that Dorset has produced in the past five seasons, continuing a tradition of New Play Development to which Artistic Director Dina Janis has proven deeply committed. "Fostering new work is one of the most important things we do here at Dorset, from our Young Playwrights workshops, to our New Play Reading Series, to these exciting World Premieres. Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin today announced the opening of the Playhouse's 2014 summer theater season with the new Mel Brooks Broadway Young Frankenstein (June 17 - 28, 2014). Young Frankenstein features a book by three-time Tony Award-winner Mel Brooks and three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Brooks. Young Frankenstein, directed by Keith Andrews with music direction by Thomas Cleary, will feature Matthew Crowle as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Kathryn Markey as Frau Blucher, Christian Kohn as the Monster, Abby Lee as Elizabeth, Brett Figel as Igor, Ashley McKay as Inga, Bill Carmichael as Inspector Kemp/Hermit, and Zachary Pesner as Ziggy. Weston Playhouse Theatre's Annual London Tour Set for 11/4-13

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has announced plans for its annual London Theatre Tour, visiting the capital of the English-speaking theatre world from November 4 to 13, 2014. Weston Producing Artistic Director Steve Stettler and London Tour Director Giles Ramsay who have designed the company's 12 previous tours will again be leading the group. Registration has begun, and the company expects to have a full group prior to the official registration deadline of August 4. (more...)

FOREVER PLAID to Play Middlebury's Town Hall Theater, 7/17-20

Before the restoration of Middlebury's Town Hall Theater was completed, the group created theater anywhere it could. In 2006 it performed the musical Forever Plaid in the dining room of the Middlebury Inn. The show was such a success that it then travelled to theaters all over Vermont (more...)
