Join the UCLA Department of Theater Summer Institutes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UCLA Department of Theater has moved all the institutes to the virtual environment, and will continue to produce artistic productions that truly reflect the creativity and hard work of every student.

Celia attended the summer acting program at Berridge in 2016 and 2017, studying Shakespeare, On Camera, Movement and Scene Study with professional actors Duane Daniels and Greg Ainsworth among others. “If I weren’t spending my summers working, I’d be at Berridge. The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, in partnership with Amateur Musicians Network and the San Francisco Symphony, launches its first-ever Orchestra Fantasy Camp in 2020, a new immersive performance opportunity for adult amateur musicians. The Orchestra Fantasy Camp at SFCM-Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, 2020-brings together 100 adult amateur musicians for an intensive weekend of symphonic music-making, culminating in a free public performance of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, led by Edwin Outwater, on Sunday, June 14, at 3:00 PM in Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall at SFCM.

Quest Theatre is now running PD Drama Camps for kids ages 9 - 12 at cSPACE King Edward, where they'll get the chance to try their hand at clowning, stage combat, mask, puppetry, musical theatre and improvisation on selected PD days throughout the school year.

Swift Creek Mill Theatre's annual performance camp ran July 22 through August 9. 23 student participants learned hands-on 21st Century Skills by producing and starring in their own show.

Who says you can't go home again? TV Producer Richie Jackson went “home” for the day to Long Island's Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, where he attended from 1979-1981. 

On Tuesday, August 6th UN Celebrity Youth Activist and recording artist Meredith O'Connor visited the Long Island-based arts day camp, Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts.  

On August 5th, Jazz saxophone player and singer Grace Kelly trekked out to Long Island's Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts—the pre-eminent visual and performing arts day camp in New York— to perform as part of the camp's daily Festival Program.

Sergio Trujillo, who recently won the 2019 TONY award for Best Choreography for Ain't Too Proud shared his journey to reaching his dreams with over 150 campers. Campers had the opportunity to hold this coveted theatre award while Sergio asked them to make a pledge with themselves to follow their dreams.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (@arshtcenter) today announced plans for the 11th season of AileyCamp Miami, an award-winning free summer camp that uses dance as a vehicle for the personal development of hundreds of youth throughout Miami. To celebrate its continued success, the Arsht Center is rolling out a masterclass led by one of South Florida's most sought-after hip-hop teachers Tawanna Hall.

When it comes to Tony Award snubbing, there are several artistic high crimes and misdemeanors. For instance, Fiorello! winning Best Musical over Gypsy, or the good Music Man besting the better West Side Story. Or how about this awful upset: Two Gentlemen of Verona (the since-forgotten musical) beating both Grease and Follies for the top honor. Perhaps worst of all is this: Even though A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM was Stephen Sondheim's first and most successful Broadway show as a composer and lyricist, and even though it would win six of its eight nominated Tony Awards in 1962-1963 (including Best Musical), Mr. Sondheim himself was not even nominated for his lyrics and score. A show that features some of the most beloved comic songs from the early 1960's--'Comedy Tonight,' 'Lovely,' and 'Everybody Ought to Have a Maid'--wasn't even nominated for these iconic numbers. (For the record, Oliver! won that year for Best Score.) Broadway's greatest composer would have to wait almost a decade to receive his first Tony Award.

Frozen cast members Alyssa Fox (Elsa standby), Noah J Ricketts (Kristoff) and Mat Eisenstein (Asst conductor/keyboard) visited Long Island's Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts - the pre-eminent visual and performing arts day camp in New York- to perform as part of the camp's daily Festival Program.

Emmy Award and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth returned to her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, just last month to lead the fifth annual Kristin Chenoweth's Broadway Boot Camp to help mold dozens of students who hope to make a career in the theatre arts industry.
